Description
BERGAMO is an aran weight five-ply twisted SUPERLIGHT yarn made of superfine merino wool and baby alpaca. The addition of baby alpaca to the merino makes the yarn super soft, and the wool fluff is reinforced by the characteristic alpaca fluff. This results in a stitch effect with a subtly soft cuddly look.
The mulesing-free raw merino wool for BERGAMO is certified regarding animal welfare, sustainability and social responsibility and we source it from selected shepherds in Australia. The alpaca wool used comes from Peru, where the animals are kept in their natural environment in the highlands of the Andes. BERGAMO is spun in Italy by a family-run traditional company and this yarn is certified according to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, Product Class I (textiles and materials for infants and toddlers up to three years of age).
BERGAMO is particularly suitable for warm winter knitwear, hats and scarves are ready in no time at needle/hook size 4.5 - 5.5 mm. Textured and cable patterns are particularly highlighted and even thick winter sweaters and transitional coats are airy and light. Thanks to its machine washability it is also very suitable for baby clothes.
